Sonic the Hedgehog surpassed Detective Pikachu to become the highest-grossing video game adaptation movie of all time in the U.S. After the end of last week, Sonic the Hedgehog now has a U.S. box office of $145.8 million, surpassing Detective Pikachu's $144.1 million.

However, in terms of global box office, Sonic the Hedgehog's global box office was $306.5 million, $100 million less than Detective Pikachu's $433 million.
