According to foreign media "The Hollywood Reporter", Avalanche Studios' third-person shooter game "Just Cause" will be adapted into a live-action movie, created by Universal Pictures, directed by "Blue Beetle" director Angel Manuel Soto, and produced by Kelly McCormick and David Leitch's production company 87North ("Stunt Maniac") . At present, the story details and release date of the film have not been announced.

In fact, there was news that the live-action movie of "Just Cause" was in production as early as 2010, but little news came out afterwards. In 2020, there was news that the film would be produced by Constantine Films and distributed by Universal Pictures, but the copyright eventually expired and nothing happened.

Now Universal Pictures has seized the opportunity of the adaptation and signed a contract with production company 87North because Universal Pictures believes that the film is part of a wave of game adaptation movies that may replace superhero movies.
