According to The Hollywood Reporter, a new Star Wars movie is in production, directed by Justin Dillard, the director of the sci-fi thriller Sleight, and written by Luke Cage. It is not yet clear whether the movie will be released in theaters or first released on Disney's streaming media Disney+.

Disney had previously planned the release dates for three unnamed "Star Wars" movies: December 16, 2022, December 20, 2024, and December 18, 2026, all targeting the Christmas season.
