According to Hong Kong media reports, Stephen Chow's "Mermaid 2" will be released in the summer of 2020. In addition, the movie "The Battle of Tomorrow" starring Louis Koo and "Wind, Forest, Fire and Mountain" directed by Juno Mak are also expected to be released in the summer of next year.

The Mermaid, directed by Stephen Chow, was released in the country on February 2, 2016, with a cumulative box office of 3.392 billion yuan.

Director Tian Hanyu, who previously collaborated with Stephen Chow, revealed, "The theme of The Mermaid 2 is still about the relationship between mermaids and humans, and the plot involves space and five-dimensional space. The male and female protagonists are Allen and Lin Yun, and there is no Deng Chao or Wu Yifan."

The Mermaid 2 started filming in March 2018, and the lead actress Lin Yun revealed on Weibo in June 2018 that the film had been completed. In the 2019 Spring Festival, Stephen Chow released another new film, The New King of Comedy, but the box office was not satisfactory.
