Donnie Yen will no longer make action movies. "Ip Man 4" will be his last Kung Fu movie

At today's "Ip Man 4" movie press conference, the lead actor Donnie Yen revealed that he might no longer make action movies in the future, but try to explore other types of movies. This means that "Ip Man 4" will be Donnie Yen's last kung fu movie.

Donnie Yen explained, "I have made so many action films, some of which people like and some of which people don't. I feel that I have done enough in terms of the challenges of kung fu films. In fact, before Ip Man, my style was fashion films. Ip Man changed everyone's impression of me. Before Ip Man, people said how could Donnie Yen's image be used to play Ip Man. Now it's the other way around. How can I play other roles in Ip Man? I think actors need to keep moving forward. I am very grateful and thankful. I hope those four kung fu films can leave a valuable page in the history of Chinese cinema."

As the "Ip Man series" starring Donnie Yen, it will usher in the final chapter in "Ip Man 4". The movie tells the story of Ip Man who came to Chinatown in the United States for some reason and was accidentally involved in a dispute between the local military forces and a Chinese martial arts school.

"Ip Man 4" is led by Donnie Yen, Wu Yue, Vanness Wu, Scott Adkins, starring Kent Cheng, Danny Chan, Ao Jianian, Gao Zhan, with special appearance by Li Wanda, and will be released nationwide on December 20.
