According to a report from Nikkan Dashun, Hideaki Anno is preparing to direct the film "Shin Ultraman". If everything goes well, the film will start shooting in October or November at the latest. In addition, Hidetoshi Nishijima, Takumi Saito, and Masami Nagasawa may also participate.

Anno Hideaki was inspired by Space Battleship Yamato when he was a teenager, and thus developed a strong interest in animation, and began to try making animation in high school. After that, Anno Hideaki became famous for directing the animation Neon Genesis Evangelion, and is currently working on the last work of the new Evangelion movie. It is reported that Anno himself is actually a loyal fan of Ultraman. He became interested in Return of Ultraman while studying at Osaka University of Arts, and even made a short film on his own.

Interestingly, as early as March this year, the media "Nikkan Dasho" reported that Hideaki Anno might direct the "Shin Ultraman" movie. However, Tsuburaya Productions, which owned the copyright of Ultraman at the time, denied this.
