Sigourney Weaver and Bill Murray to Return for Ghostbusters Movie

Sigourney Weaver has confirmed that she will reprise her classic role as Dana Barrett in Jason Reitman's Ghostbusters, and her old partners Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd will also return.

In an interview with Parade magazine, Weaver confirmed that she will return in the new Ghostbusters. She played musician Dana Barrett in Ghostbusters 1 and 2. This Ghostbusters will be a direct sequel to the original film and will not be related to the 2016 reboot.

The film's director, Jason Reitman, is the son of the original director Ivan Reitman. He once said, "This movie is a new chapter of the original. It's not a reboot. What happened in the 1980s will not change. This film will be set in the present."

Weaver did not reveal specific details about the film, but confirmed that she will continue to play Dana, not any other role. Weaver said, "It's really crazy to be able to work with everyone again."

The media speculated that Weaver and others' participation would be officially announced at the Ghostbusters fan event this weekend. Jason Reitman also tweeted that he would prepare a surprise for the event.

Ernie Hudson is the only member of the original Ghostbusters who is still unsure whether to return, but he plans to attend the fan event this weekend. Finally, Harold Ramis, who played Egon, passed away in 2014.

"Ghost Busters" directed by Jason Reitman is scheduled to be released in July 2020. Carrie Coon ("Avengers: Infinity War") will play a single mother, and Finn Wolfhard ("Stranger Things", "IT") and Mckenna Grace ("Captain Marvel") will play her two children.
