The screenwriter for the live-action adaptation of Microsoft's ace game series "Gears of War" was recently announced. F. Scott Frazier, the screenwriter of "xXx: Return of Xander Cage", will serve as the lead writer. Universal Pictures acquired the film rights to the Gears of War series in 2016, which is owned by Microsoft Studios. So far, the Gears of War series has launched five sequels, including Gears of War 5, which is available on Xbox One. The film's producers include Rod Fergusson, the creator of the game series, and Dylan Clark, the producer of the Planet of the Apes film series. Universal Executive Vice President of Production Jon Mone and Creative Executive Mika Pryce will produce the project. As a long-lived game series, the Gears of War series has sold more than $1 billion in games and peripheral merchandise and has more than 45 million player fans worldwide.
