Disney admits it can’t handle it anymore? Boba Fett: A Star Wars Story is officially cancelled

According to foreign media reports, Lucasfilm Chairman Kathleen Kennedy recently officially confirmed that the previously planned "Star Wars" series film "Boba Fett: A Star Wars Story" has been officially canceled and is unlikely to be restarted in the future.

Currently, Lucasfilm is focusing on the "Star Wars" project, the live-action series "The Mandalorian" directed by Jon Favreau.

The timeline of The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. It tells the story of the hard struggle of a lone gunman in the remote star belt of the galaxy far away from the control of the New Republic. The Mandalorian will be exclusively broadcast on Disney streaming platforms in some countries and regions at the end of 2019.

"The Mandalorian" will premiere on Disney's own streaming platform in the second half of 2019. The story of the series takes place after the fall of the Empire (that is, after "Star Wars 3: Return of the Jedi") and before the rise of the First Order (before "Star Wars 7").

Prior to this, Lucasfilm's Obi-Wan solo movie was also shelved, and there are no spin-off movies in the Star Wars series. Ultimately, it was all because of the box office failure of this summer's Solo: A Star Wars Story, which grossed $390 million worldwide, but the investment was estimated to be more than $200 million. This was the first box office failure of the Star Wars series, and the producer Disney promptly terminated the spin-off film project.

It is reported that "Star Wars 9" is scheduled to be released on December 20, 2019.
