Director Gunn: The script of "Superman: Legacy" is 99.9% completed

Director James Gunn recently revealed that the script for his new DC superhero universe reboot Superman: Legacy is almost complete.

In a post on social media Threads, Gunn responded to a fan who asked about his script status: "99.9%. I've been changing some small things, but it was basically done before the strike."

The film is the first Superman film not starring Henry Cavill in a decade and marks the first theatrical release of the first chapter of the new DC Universe under director Gunn, "Gods and Monsters." The story follows a young Superman as he reconciles his Kryptonian heritage with his human roots.

David Corenswet will play Superman, Rachel Borsnahan will play the heroine Lois Lane. So far, the cast also includes Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy "Firebird" Olsen, and Sara Sampaio as Luthor's secretary Eve Tesmark.

Gunn also addressed casting rumors for the planned Batman and Robin film, The Brave and the Bold, adding that the script has not yet been written.

Superman: Legacy is scheduled to be released on July 11, 2025. Daivd Corenswet has already started training to play Superman.
