Universal Pictures is developing a new "Bourne" movie, according to Deadline, with Oscar winner Edward Berger ("All Quiet on the Western Front") set to direct the long-running action series. Reports suggest Berger is in talks with Universal to direct a new Jason Bourne movie, which is currently in early production and does not yet have a script. Since it is currently in the early stages, it basically means that nothing has been finalized yet, so it is unknown whether series star Matt Damon will return. Universal reportedly plans to approach Damon about the film, but everything must be executed perfectly before Damon will consider returning to the series. It is reported that no commitment has been made between the two parties yet. The trajectory of the Bourne franchise has been unclear since 2016's Jason Bourne, and as early as 2020, it was reported that the series' producers were looking to reboot the series. "Jason Bourne" was released in 2002. The film grossed over $200 million worldwide and made Matt Damon a top action star. |
