Amid uncertainty about the current state of the MCU, Marvel executives are apparently considering returning to their roots. A thorough new report from Variety delves into some of the major issues with the MCU, especially with the amount of content that's been churned out over the past few years since Avengers 4. One of the solutions being considered is apparently a new Avengers movie starring the original cast. According to reports, this would include Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark and Scarlett Johansson's Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow), despite their deaths in Avengers 4. However, Marvel has apparently not yet "committed" to adopting this radical proposal. Part of the reason is that the original cast is paid a lot, and the current Marvel Studios is already losing money, which means that a new Avengers movie that brings together the original cast will be very expensive for Marvel. According to Variety's sources, Downey's advance salary for Iron Man 3 was $25 million, and that doesn't even take into account the percentage of box office revenue that many actors receive as compensation. |
