Marvel's fall? Captain Marvel 2's opening weekend revenue is expected to be only half of its predecessor

Captain Marvel 2 is set to hit theaters in November, but Hollywood Reporter tracking estimates suggest the film will only take in between $75 million and $80 million in its North American debut weekend.

In comparison, 2019's "Captain Marvel" grossed $153.4 million in its North American opening weekend. However, box office tracking estimates are not accurate. The Hollywood Reporter also said that the forecasts of two different companies were different, and Quorum predicted between $80 million and $90 million.

As a sequel to Captain Marvel, Brie Larson, the star of the previous film, has confirmed her return, and Kamala Khan, played by Iman Vellani, who starred in Marvel Girl on Disney+, and Monica Rambeau, played by Teyonah Parris in Wanda and Vision, will also appear in the film as co-stars. This is the 33rd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Due to the ongoing strike by Hollywood actors' union SAG-AFTRA, the actors of the film are unable to promote the Marvel movie. Also affected by the strike is Warner Bros.' Dune 2, which has been postponed from November to next year. Although affected by the strike, Disney has not changed the release date of Captain Marvel 2.
