Many people thought that How Do You Live? would be Hayao Miyazaki's last film, but that is clearly not the case. In a recent red carpet interview at the Toronto International Film Festival, Studio Ghibli Vice President Junichi Nishioka told reporters that after the release of "How Do You Live?", Miyazaki came into the office with ideas for a new film. "Some people may say this is his last film, but he doesn't think so at all," Nishioka told reporters. "He is currently thinking of new film ideas and comes to the office every day to think about them. He will not announce his retirement this time and will continue to work as usual." Old fans of Ghibli all know that Miyazaki's "last movies" were "The Wind Rises" in 2013 and the animated short "The Caterpillar Pineapple" in 2018. Now there is another "How Do You Live?", it seems that this retirement is just an ordinary retirement. |
