Variety reported today (March 31) that Junji Ito's horror manga "Darkness of the Vampire" is planned to be adapted into a live-action movie. Junji Ito will serve as the film's producer, and Jeff Howard, the screenwriter of his masterpiece "The Haunting of Hill House", will write the adaptation. The director of the film is yet to be determined. Fangoria, the film studio responsible for the production of this film, said that in addition to the film adaptation of "Darkness of the Vampire", it will also plan to release two other series of films adapted from the selected works of Junji Ito. The story tells about a girl named Nami who starts to suffer from bulimia nervosa after breaking up with her boyfriend. As time goes by, the heroine's health deteriorates, and in her dreams she sees bloody storms and terrible monsters. |
