"Metropolis" director Suzutaro's new work will be unveiled in March, and Otomo Katsuhiro will design the characters

The official Twitter account of the first Niigata Anime Film Festival in Japan recently announced the new work of "Metropolis" and "Galaxy Express 999" director Suzutaro, "a manga movie dedicated to Yamanaka Sadao, "Nezuko Jirokichi". The animated film will premiere at the film festival on March 20, and it is also Suzutaro's first new supervisory work in 14 years.

This 25-minute "silent animation" film award depicts film director Yamanaka Sadao, who died in 1938 at the age of 28, and his process of making the film "Jirokichi the Mouse Boy - Edo Volume". Yamanaka Sadao promoted the transition of the Japanese film industry from silent to talkie.

The famous director Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira), who worked with Rin Taro on Metropolis, will be responsible for the character design of the animation, and GENCO, Studio M2 and French studio Miyu Production will be responsible for production: Similarly, Toshiyuki Honda, who composed the music for Metropolis, will compose the music for the film. As a "silent animation", the commentary voiceover will be done by Mami Koyama.

The first Niigata International Animation Film Festival will be held from March 17 to 22 at Niigata Citizen Square in Japan.
