"Super Mario Bros. Movie" may be released on Netflix platform at the end of 2023

Although "Super Mario Bros. Movie" will not be released in theaters (overseas) until April 7, 2023, the usual practice of production departments Illumination and Universal Pictures has indicated that the film may be launched on Netflix streaming platform at the end of 2023.

According to an analysis by the website ComicBook.com, Universal Pictures and Netflix signed an agreement in 2021 that is still in implementation. According to the agreement, the works of Illumination and DreamWorks will be available on the Netflix platform after the four-month exclusivity period. This four-month exclusivity period refers to the exclusive time on the Peacock platform (Peacock is a streaming platform launched by Universal Pictures itself). The works of Illumination and DreamWorks often land on Peacock 70 days after they are released in theaters. The agreement between Netflix and Universal Pictures will allow Netflix to obtain access to movies after the Peacock exclusivity period ends.

Taking all factors into consideration, ComicBook.com believes that "Super Mario Bros. Movie" will be broadcast on Netflix as early as October 2023.
