HBO Max and Discovery+ to merge to create new platform to be named "Max"

Thanks to the merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery, HBO Max and Discovery+ will be combined into one service sometime in 2023. While this news has been public for a while, the name of this new platform has not yet been announced. Now, we may have our answer, as Warner Bros. Discovery may remove the "HBO" from HBO Max and call its new service "Max."

According to CNBC, the company's lawyers are reviewing the name "Max" chosen by executives. The report noted that the company has not yet made a final decision on the new name and the name may still change. Warner Bros. Discovery has codenamed the service "BEAM" and discussions on an official name are ongoing.
