Director of SHIELD refutes Quentin's view on Marvel: Boseman, who plays Black Panther, is a star

Quentin Tarantino commented on Marvel movies before, saying that part of the result of the Marvelization of Hollywood is that... there are a lot of actors who are famous for playing these roles, but they are not movie stars. And those famous IPs are the real stars, such as Captain America or Thor.

Samuel L. Jackson, Quentin's long-term partner, disagrees with Quentin's view on Marvel movies. He said: "There have to be actors to play these specific roles, and what is the criterion for movie stars? Is it the status? In my opinion, this is not a question at all. I know who the star is. Boseman, who plays Black Panther, is a star. You can't refute this, and he is a movie star."

Samuel L. Jackson has played the role of Nick Fury, the "Director of S.H.I.E.L.D." for a long time. He once said that this role is priceless and even the Oscar statuette cannot shake his mind.

Jackson said: "I will never use the Oscar as a measure of an actor's success or failure. In my opinion, the standard of an actor's success is self-satisfaction. Are you satisfied with what you have done? I will not let the little golden man lead me by the nose. There are always people telling me that if I act in a certain movie, I will definitely win an Oscar. No, thank you! I would rather be Nick Fury or Mace Windu with a lightsaber. Anyway, I am happy."

Jackson will reprise his role as Nick Fury in the Marvel series Secret Invasion, which is set to premiere on Disney+ in spring 2023.
