The hit British TV series Peaky Blinders aired its final season, Season 6, in February this year, and a movie is currently in production. Back in October, creator Stephen Knight said that a film adaptation of Peaky Blinders would begin filming in 2023. In a recent interview with Heart Breakfast, Knight confirmed that the script is almost written and filming is about to begin. "Yes, I'm writing it now," he said. "I'm almost done and we're going to start filming... I'm setting up some film and television studios in Digbeth, Birmingham." The BBC series is based on the real-life Peaky Blinders gang in Birmingham, England, which existed from the 1880s to the 1910s. Knight plans to bring the gang's stories back to the area where they originated. "We will be shooting in the studios in Digbeth and on location in Digbeth, Birmingham," he explained. “I’m hoping we’ll be filming in 18 months,” Knight said, echoing his previous comments that filming would begin in 2023. He continued: “But I’m really looking forward to hosting an event where people can watch Peaky Blinders. I know social media is so powerful as a communication tool. But it’s going to be so fun to actually be face to face.” Knight also said that while we'll see some familiar faces in the film, we'll also see "some hopefully surprising new ones." |
