The horror game "Outlast" will be adapted into a live-action movie produced by Lionsgate

According to foreign media Bloody Disgusting, Lionsgate will adapt the horror game series "Outlast" from developer Red Barrels into a live-action movie, which is expected to be directed by Roy Lee ("IT"), and J.T. Petty ("The Burrow") will be deeply involved in the game story writing.

The first game in the Outlast series was originally released in 2013, and Red Barrels followed it up with the sequel Outlast 2 in 2017, and the prequel Outlast: Trials in 2024. Underneath the psychological horror of each of the Outlast games lies a recurring theme: manipulation and abuse of power, with corrupt institutions exploiting people for their own sinister ends.
