Japanese national voice actor Toru Furuya quietly retires due to scandal

Japan's national voice actor Toru Furuya (71 years old), who was involved in scandals involving cheating, violence, and mental PUA, has been silent for a long time. It seems that there is no hope for him to make a comeback. According to relevant people in the Japanese television industry, Toru Furuya has now almost retired quietly.

In September 2023, Toru Furuya was exposed for a 4 and a half year long cheating scandal. If it was simply cheating, it would be tolerated quite a lot in Japan according to past practice. However, he was later exposed for bad behaviors such as violence and mental PUA. This time, there is really no hope for him to turn things around.

Afterwards, his representative roles were replaced one after another, including Amuro from Mobile Suit Gundam, Toru Amuro from Detective Conan, and Yamcha from Dragon Ball DAIMA which was just aired.

Toru Furuya made his debut at the age of 10, which attracted the attention of the industry. He later became famous for playing Amuro in the Japanese national animation "Mobile Suit Gundam" and became a national voice actor in Japan.
