Japan's "Manga Awards 2022" reveals that "Darwin's Incident" tops the list

The Japanese "Manga Award 2022" selection, which is mainly composed of bookstore employees, reviewed the most influential masterpieces of the year and decided by voting which popular manga they want to recommend, announced the results today on March 28. "The Darwin Incident" won the grand prize.

The Manga Awards has been held since 2008, and this year is the 15th. The selection objects are single-volume works published between January 1 and December 31, 2021, excluding works that have won the Manga Awards in the past, and medium-length and short-length manga works with a maximum number of 8 volumes.

The original work of "The Darwin Incident" is Umezawa Shiyun. It tells the story of Charlie, a half-human, half-gorilla creature developed by a biological research institute. After being raised by a zoologist for 15 years, he finally enters a human high school. There he meets Lucy, an excellent student who is alienated by others, and thus begins an incredible adventure.
