Andrew Garfield says Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man is his favorite

Tobey Maguire is Andrew Garfield's favorite Spider-Man.

"Tobey (Maguire) is my favorite. When I was in drama school, when I was a young, impressionable actor, I was watching his movies and I was practicing my imitation of him," Garfield said in an interview. "But I think what Tom (Holland) does is also great. I kind of like them both equally, but I think because at that stage in my life when I was growing up, Tobey...that was my Spider-Man."

Garfield replaced Maguire after the fourth Spider-Man film in Sam Raimi's series was canceled in the early 2000s due to the reception of Spider-Man 3. In 2012, Sony rebooted the series, renaming it The Amazing Spider-Man with a different storyline, starring Garfield as Peter Parker and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy.

The film grossed $758 million on a $200 million budget. A sequel was greenlit, but Garfield's third film was canceled. The actor reprised the role in Spider-Man: No Homecoming, which also saw Maguire return. Together, the three Spider-Men fought Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin from Sam Raimi's original trilogy.
