The animated film "Detective Dog" adapted from the comic book will be released on January 31 next year

DreamWorks Animation announced today that the "Detective Paw" movie adapted from Dave Pilkey's best-selling comic series will be officially released on January 31, 2024!

Since its launch in 2016, the Detective Dog comic book series has published 12 books, with global sales exceeding 60 million copies and translated into 47 languages. The spin-off of the series, Cat Comic Club, was launched in 2020 and also topped the global bestseller list.

This highly anticipated animated film tells the story of a police dog and his officer owner who were both injured in the line of duty, and after surgery they were reunited to create the heroic dog "Detective Dog".

In the movie, Petey the Cat's latest plot is to copy himself and create Petey the Cat to enhance his criminal ability. However, Petey the Cat forms an unexpected friendship with Detective Dog.

When Petey the Cat falls into the hands of a common enemy, Detective Puppy and Petey the Cat are forced to team up on a thrilling rescue mission where they discover the power of family (and kittens!) to unite even the fiercest of enemies.

The animated film "Detective Dog" is directed by Emmy Award winner Peter Hastings ("Wallace and Gromit," "Kung Fu Panda: Legend of the Condor Heroes") and produced by Karen Foster ("The Call of the Wild").

The film was distributed by Universal Pictures.
