Denis Villeneuve: Already Writing the Script for Dune: Part II

Recently, Denis Villeneuve, the director of "Dune", was interviewed by the gaming media Gamesradar. In the interview, he said that the movie "Dune: Part I" only tells half of the story of the novel, and revealed that although the "Dune: Part II" project has not yet been confirmed, he is already writing the relevant script.

Director Villeneuve said in an interview: "There is no such thing as "Dune 1" and "Dune 2", there is only "Dune: Part I" and "Dune: Part II."

Director Villeneuve said bluntly: "For the past few decades, we have always had rumors that it is impossible to adapt this book. They think it is an impossible task. I think this idea still exists in the minds of these studios today. So the first thing I have to do is to prove that this superb and popular movie can be made. I think I have proved it-Warner Bros. and everyone at Legendary Pictures, they are 100% supportive of this project. They even think that if Dune: Part II is not released, the box office will be bad because they like this movie. They are proud of this movie, so they hope that the series of movies will continue to move forward. So I am very optimistic about this."

However, in recent years, due to the impact of the epidemic, major film and television companies have begun to adopt the practice of simultaneous online and offline releases, making the calculation of box office revenue become blurred. In addition, "Dune" also adopted this approach in the United States. The film was not only released in theaters but also on HBO Max. This practice also caused protests from the director himself and he wrote an open letter to express his opposition.

When talking about Dune: Part II, director Villeneuve said: "I am already writing the script for Dune Part II. I feel like I am eight years old again. It is also very strange for me. This is the first time I feel such deep gratitude and joy in my work."
