Deadline reports that the critically acclaimed samurai animated series Blue Eyed Samurai has won the Best Animated Program award at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards. The series had already won three Jury Awards at the Emmy Awards last month, recognizing outstanding achievements in storyboarding, production design, and character design. At the Emmy Awards, Blue Eyed Samurai competed against The Simpsons, Bob's Burgers, X-Men '97, and Scavengers Rule, and it also won six Annie Awards earlier this year. After its first season aired last year, Blue Eyed Samurai received positive reviews and was quickly renewed for a second season, but a release date has yet to be announced. According to Michael Green, he and his wife/co-creator Amber Noizumi are currently "writing the story for season 2" and praised Netflix for allowing them the creative freedom. As for how far they hope to take the Blue Eyed Samurai story, Green said: "Right now, we're planning on three seasons. We've been renewed for season two, and hopefully season three will exist, because we definitely have plans. We're envisioning three seasons right now. I think we said four seasons in an interview, probably to Collider, and then all of a sudden it became 'official canon.' That's what you say when you're not used to doing interviews." |
