The Flash solo movie will feature the first Latina superhero

Latin American actress Sasha Calle will play the role of Supergirl in the DC movie universe. The Flash movie director Andy Muschietti shared a video announcing the casting, and this Supergirl will make her debut in the film.

Callie has starred in the TV series "The Young and the Restless" and "The Socially Awkward". Last year, she was nominated for the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Young Actor in a Drama Series. More than 425 actresses auditioned for the role, and the Colombian-born Callie from Boston became the first Latina to play Supergirl.

The Flash is the Flash's first independent film, directed by Andy Muschietti and starring Ezra Miller, Kiersey Clemens and Billy Crudup. It tells the story of the Flash Barry Allen saving the world. It will be adapted from the comic event Flashpoint and will be released in the United States on November 4, 2022.
