Recently, with the cooperation of police in Shandong, Hubei, Guangxi and other places, Shanghai police cracked the "9.8" major cross-provincial copyright infringement case of film and television works jointly supervised by the National Copyright Administration, the National Office for Combating Pornography and Illegal Publications, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Supreme People's Procuratorate. 14 criminal suspects headed by Liang were arrested, 3 companies involved in the case were investigated and dealt with, 20 mobile phones and 12 computer hosts and servers used to commit the crime were seized, and the amount involved in the case was more than 16 million yuan. On January 4 this year, Renren Yingshi released an announcement on its official website: "We are cleaning up content! All clients cannot be used normally!", saying that cleaning up the content "is expected to take some time, and we are very grateful for your continued support for Renren Yingshi." After the Shanghai police reported and investigated today, the website page can still be displayed after searching for "Renren Film and Television Subtitle Group" on the web. However, clicking on "Renren Film and Television Resource Download Station" can no longer open the link. The "Donate to Us" link at the top of the page will display "Thank you for your support! We are adjusting." The "Renren Film and Television Subtitle Group" app can still be searched in the Apple App Store, but after opening the app, the columns are blank and cannot be used. The Android mobile app direct link on the homepage or scanning the QR code can no longer be downloaded. The police report stated that since 2018, the criminal suspect Liang and others have successively established several companies, set up and rented servers in and outside China, developed, operated and maintained the "Everyone Film and Television Subtitle Group" App and related websites, and downloaded film sources from overseas pirated forum websites without the authorization of the copyright owner. After hiring people to translate and press the films at a remuneration of about 400 yuan per film (episode), they uploaded them to the APP server for public dissemination, and illegally made profits by collecting website membership fees, advertising fees, and selling mobile hard disks burned with infringing film and television works. Preliminary verification shows that the various port application software publishes more than 20,000 films and television works, and the number of registered members is more than 8 million. At present, the police have taken criminal coercive measures against the above-mentioned suspects in accordance with the law, and the case is under further investigation. |
