Netflix plans to release a movie "Small Investors vs. Wall Street" in line with current events

Recently, a game between American retail investors and institutional investors, described as a "leek" vs. "sickle" battle, has been going on around GameStop and other stocks. In the past two weeks, GameStop has risen as much as 1,600%.

Now according to foreign media The Verge, American streaming giant Netflix and MGM Studios (MGM) are planning to shoot a movie about the recent hot event "Retail Investors vs. Wall Street".

MGM will adapt the film from a yet-to-be-written book by Ben Mezrich, who wrote "The Accidental Billionaires," which also served as the basis for David Fincher's 2010 film "The Social Network."

Netflix is planning to film a film about how a group of Reddit and Robinhood users work together to drive up the prices of GameStop and other stocks while preventing hedge funds from trying to profit from troubled companies. Mark Boal, the screenwriter of "The Hurt Locker," is in talks to produce the film, and Noah Centineo, the star of "To All the Boys I've Loved Before," may play the leading role, with New York journalist Scott Galloway serving as a consultant.

Netflix declined to comment on the report.
