Wonder Woman 1984 box office performance fell short of expectations, with China box office at $18.8 million

According to foreign media IGN, after the release of Wonder Woman 1984, its performance was not as successful as expected. Its opening score in China was only 18.8 million US dollars, and the total overseas box office was 38.5 million US dollars.

"Wonder Woman 1984" failed to take the top spot at the box office in China during its opening weekend, and its box office did not exceed that of "The Rescue" (US$35 million).

In comparison, the 2017 Wonder Woman opened in China with $38 million and eventually grossed $90.5 million. At this rate, it may be difficult for Wonder Woman 1984 to recoup its $200 million budget. Box office analysts predict that Wonder Woman 1984 will eventually gross $40 million in China.

The result is disappointing because Chinese audiences love superhero movies and China was expected to become the film's largest theatrical market.

After its release, "Wonder Woman 1984" earned $3.6 million in Taiwan, $2 million in Thailand, $1.7 million in Brazil, and $1.6 million in Mexico and Japan.
