Netflix announced that it would film "Water Margin" and was criticized by domestic netizens

Recently Netflix announced that it will shoot a movie called "The Water Margin", which is described as " a futuristic action-adventure legendary blockbuster based on a classic Chinese literary work, full of glory, romance and conspiracy, exploring loyalty, leadership and our responsibility to face social issues at personal cost."

Netflix has also confirmed the director of the film, which will be directed by Japanese director Shinsuke Sato (Kingdom, Treasure Island, and Gantz). Matt Sand (Deepwater 40) will be the screenwriter. Eric Newman and Bryan Unkeless will be the producers.

The TV series include the Shandong TV version of Water Margin, the 1998 CCTV version of Water Margin, and the 2011 new version of Water Margin. The movies shot include Water Margin: A True Hero (starring Tony Leung and Joey Wong), The Three Ruan Clan, Shi Qian, and Wu Song.
