Blumhouse has confirmed a sequel to the hugely successful live-action Five Nights at Freddy's, based on the beloved video game franchise, is in the works. Universal Pictures also confirmed the news at Cinemacon in Las Vegas this week. The first film broke box office records and became Blumhouse's highest-grossing film ever. Although it was also released on the streaming platform Peacock, it still achieved very good box office results, with global revenue exceeding US$291 million. The film sequel is still in the early stages of production, and there is no news yet on whether the director and the original cast will return, nor whether Scott Cawthon, the creator of the original game, will be involved in the project. The only thing confirmed is that it will be released next fall. |
