IGN's "Tenet" movie scored 8 points: a bit conservative but still good

The ban on media ratings for Nolan's "Tenet" has been lifted, and the film received an 8-point rating from IGN. MTC currently includes ratings from 18 media outlets, with the current average score being 71 points.

IGN rating: 8 points, very good

Tenet is another thrilling addition to Nolan’s canon, but is slightly hampered by a sense of over-familiarity.

Overall review:

Tenet isn't Nolan's best work, but it's still another thrilling entry in his canon. In a cinema dominated by franchises and sequels, it successfully shows the joy of unconnected and non-serialized original stories. Although it does break new ground, Tenet is Nolan's most conservative film in recent years. After directing two ambitious two-parter, Nolan's Tenet feels a little conservative, as if Nolan's style is a series rather than a framework.

Still, it's more interesting than most other films that test the waters, and serves as a beacon of the director's strength. At a time when the film industry is struggling through arguably its most difficult period in its entire history, Tenet serves as a fantastic reminder of what blockbuster filmmaking can aspire to, and why it's best experienced in a giant, dark room.
