However, according to director Jeff Fowler, a sequel to the film is not currently in development. Recently, Jeff Fowler confirmed to foreign media USA Today that a sequel to the "Sonic the Hedgehog" movie is not in development, but he himself is also willing to return to the world of Sonic and expand it into a complete movie universe. "There are still a lot of great characters out there that can be added and a lot of stories that can be told, but there's nothing that would give me more satisfaction than to do one more. We'd love to do more in the Sonic Cinematic Universe."
