H. P. Lovecraft plays an important role in the horror literature world. As the father of Cthulhu, his weird novels have had an immeasurable influence on later creators. Due to the abstract and grand horror novels, his movies are not as frequently adapted as those of modern writers such as Stephen King. The upcoming Color Out Of Space in North America is a rare attempt in recent years. For Lovecraft fans, Richard Stanley, the director of The Color Out of Space, also brought good news recently. During the Q&A session at the film's Los Angeles premiere, he announced that in addition to this work, he will continue to adapt the works of the father of Cthulhu and launch a horror movie trilogy. The original work of the next film has been confirmed to be The Dunwich Horror written by Lovecraft in 1928. When asked if he wanted to create a Lovecraft or Cthulhu universe, Stanley said, "I'm already doing that." Color Out Of Space is based on H.P. Lovecraft's 1927 novella. It tells the story of a meteorite that crashes into the Gardner family's front yard. It seems to melt into the earth, infecting the properties of the land and space with a strange, otherworldly color. To their horror, the alien force is gradually mutating every life form it touches. The film stars Nicolas Cage, Joely Richardson and others. It was screened at the Toronto Film Festival last year and received mediocre reviews from many critics. They believed that the film followed the author's storytelling style and made you feel like you were a part of Lovecraft's cosmic horror story, but failed to hold up the grand development of the original worldview, and the narrative was out of control by the end of the film. The film will be released in North America on January 24. |
