Today (January 4), IGN gave the newly released American version of "The Grudge" a score of 4 (Bad), and bluntly stated, "After watching such a lifeless reboot of "The Grudge", I feel that sometimes it is better for things or series that are already 'dead' to remain in a 'dead' state." IGN review video of the American version of "The Grudge ": "After watching the lifeless reboot of Ju-Jou, I feel that sometimes it is better for dead things or series to remain dead." In the overall review, IGN said: "Nicolas Peasce (director of "The Grudge") doesn't bring anything fresh, exciting or unique to "The Grudge". His passion for character-focused dramas fails to be ignited by a series of scenes that feel like they were cut from Lifetime movies. Sharp critics praised the way he used a palette of sickly yellow, rotten, stench and urine in "My Mother's Eyes" and "Embroidery". The slow camera push makes people feel more difficult than creepy. He has a very good cast and a real horror image, but the dialogue the director gave them is dull. And some of the clips he included in the film feel like re-enactments, including ghost hands sticking out of hair in the shower. There is no sense of life in this "The Grudge", so the horror brought by death becomes redundant." In addition, the current freshness rating of this new American version of "The Grudge" on the Rotten Tomatoes website is only 20%, and the popcorn index is also only 20%. |
