Michelle Yeoh to star in Amazon's Blade Runner 2049 sequel

Since winning an Oscar for her role in The Blink of an Eye, Michelle Yeoh has had a busy schedule, starring in TV series like The Witcher: Blood Origin, The Way of Brothers, ABC: Journey to the West, and the upcoming Star Trek film for Paramount+. She's now confirmed to be joining another classic series.

According to Variety, Michelle Yeoh will star in the upcoming original series Blade Runner 2099 on Amazon's streaming platform Prime Video. The series is a sequel to the film Blade Runner and its subsequent sequel Blade Runner 2049. The report states that Michelle Yeoh will play an artificial human named Olwen, whose statement is about to bring about the end.

Silka Luisa, the executive producer of Amazon's Halo TV series, will serve as the showrunner and executive producer of Blade Runner 2099. Blade Runner director Ridley Scott will also serve as co-executive producer. The series will be filmed in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. Amazon has not yet determined the premiere date of the series.
