The live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie image was officially revealed at the end of April this year, which triggered unanimous negative reviews from fans around the world. Compared with the Detective Pikachu movie that was promoted at the same time, the live-action Sonic design was completely different from the original setting and was unacceptable. The film's producers also quickly apologized to fans, postponed the film to next year, and promised to start revising Sonic's image.

In a recent interview with Variety magazine, the film's producer Tim Miller talked about how the team spent two months redesigning the image of the blue hedgehog based on the key points pointed out by fans.

"First of all, Jeff and I are both fans of the Sonic franchise. When the initial design of the movie caused an uproar among fans, I immediately found Jeff and said to him: 'The most important thing is to admit that we screwed up.' Jeff sent an apology tweet long before I arrived, which is indeed the only correct way for us to solve the problem. Sonic fans have a voice in this issue that cannot be ignored, and it is right to listen to their opinions."

Miller also said that he thinks the delay is worth it, and that he has seen some new design directions in the past two months: "I think the fans will be satisfied."

Fans' complaints about Sonic's real-life image are generally focused on his creepy white teeth and overly realistic leg muscles. In addition, his furry design does not reflect his characteristics as a hedgehog, which has also been criticized by many people.

The Sonic the Hedgehog movie has been postponed to next year's Valentine's Day, and a redesigned look is expected to be announced at the end of the year.
