The director of "Star Wars 8" watched the trailer of "Star Wars 9": He laughed like a child

Rian Johnson, director of Star Wars 8: The Last Jedi, said that he wanted to enjoy Star Wars 9 like an ordinary Star Wars fan. Today, Star Wars 9: The Rise of Skywalker officially announced the subtitle and trailer, and Rian Johnson also shared his feelings.

Rian Johnson expressed his love for the trailer and his anticipation for the next movie on Twitter:

"I loved every moment of it. I became a happy kid again. If I had to say, I would have been smiling in a dream today."

Rian Johnson's Star Wars: Episode IX was criticized by some fans for not matching the tone set by the previous film. In particular, the fact that the heroine Rey's parents were just nobody surprised many people, and the fact that the villain Snoke died so casually made the threat he posed unconvincing. Some people suggested that JJ Abrams, the director of Star Wars: Episode VII, be invited back to take charge of Star Wars: Episode IX.
