Netflix to produce Sanrio pet animation with My Melody and Kurome as the protagonists

Netflix recently announced that it will make an animation with Sanrio's cute pets as the protagonists, but it is not the popular Hello Kitty. This time, My Melody and Kurome will be the protagonists, performing wonderful adventures together.

The new project is called "My Melody ＆ Kuromi" and is scheduled to be exclusively released in July 2025.

2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the birth of My Melody, and the 20th anniversary of the new pet Kuromi. The new animation will be created based on the personalities of the two well-known pets. My Melody is a straightforward and lively little sister who protects her brother and likes to make delicious snacks, while Kuromi calls herself My Melody's nemesis. Among the many well-known cute pets under Sanrio, the popularity of the two has always been at the forefront.
