The director of the movie "Wanda and the Colossus" said that after 10 years of preparation, the project has not been abandoned but there are funding problems

As early as 2009, there was news that Sony Pictures was producing a film adaptation of "Wanda and the Colossus", and in 2012, Josh Trank, the director of "Chronicle", was invited to direct, and Seth Lockhead, the screenwriter of "Hanna", was invited to write the script.

After Andy Muschietti (who later directed "IT") took over Trank's position as director in 2014, there has not been much new news or progress on the film adaptation of "Wanda and the Colossus" for more than 10 years.

Recently, Andrés Muschietti, while being a guest on the Radio TU program "La Baulera del Coso", made it clear that the film project of "Wanda and the Colossus" has not been abandoned.

In response, Muschietti said: "I am not a game enthusiast, but "Shadow of the Colossus" is a masterpiece in my opinion. I have played it several times. This movie has been in preparation for 10 years, and now the possibility of production is emerging."

Muschietti also said that he "really liked" the script for the project, but he admitted that there were still many obstacles to be overcome before the film could actually start shooting, namely funding issues.

“Shadow of the Colossus is a cult classic, but to make a good movie, you need a studio to crunch the numbers and tell the director what $200 million is worth, $150 million or $100 million,” Muschietti said. “There are multiple versions of this movie, and obviously I would have liked them to give me $200 million, but that’s another factor to consider.”
