Ma Dongxi returns to Hollywood after "Eternals" to star in the sci-fi movie "Helljumper"

With three consecutive hits in the "Criminal Metropolis" series, Ma Dong-seok has become the most popular male star in the Korean film industry. According to foreign media reports, after starring in Marvel's "Eternals", Ma Dong-seok will once again enter Hollywood and serve as the star and producer of the science fiction film "Hell Divers".

It is reported that "Helldiver" is adapted from the apocalyptic science fiction novel of the same name by New York Times bestselling author Nicholas Sansbury Smith. It tells the story two centuries after the end of World War III. Ma Dongseok plays the male lead Xavier and participates in the production.

In the novel, humans use huge airships as their last bastion, circling the earth in search of a suitable place to live. Most of the airships have fallen to the ground due to old age, and the fate of the remaining two airships depends on a group of people called Hell Divers. Hell Divers will risk their lives to parachute to the ground to find the parts needed for the airships in order to maintain human survival. The most legendary core character among them is Xavier.

The film will be adapted from the first three books in the series, and the 10th novel has been published.

Ma Dong-seok will star opposite Angelina Jolie in the 2021 film "Eternals", becoming the first Korean protagonist in a Marvel movie. "Helldiver" will be produced by Arad Productions of "Spider-Man" and "Uncharted", and JP Davis, the screenwriter of "Down," will be responsible for adapting the script. The director has not yet been determined.

In addition, Ma Dongxi will also cooperate with Paramount to shoot the American version of "The Devil", also serving as the leading actor and one of the producers. This Korean film released in 2019 describes the gangster boss who was almost killed by a serial killer and teamed up with a passionate detective to chase the killer.
