Comics Research: Too much text will cause important information to slip away

As the world's largest comic country, Japan's comics industry has gone through decades of development and its overall structure is very mature. According to foreign media reports and analysis, too much dialogue in game comics will cause important information to slip away, leaving readers with a helpless "hmm..."

The expression form of comics, especially Japanese comics, is already very detailed. In addition to the necessary dialogues, adding too much text will not play a positive guiding role, but will make readers bored.

First of all, the famous manga "Death Note". Perhaps the author wanted to express the genius mind of Light Yagami, so he used a lot of lines to explain the ideological struggle of the protagonist, which actually left less room for readers to chew and think.

·Then the one that was criticized was "Detective Conan". Well, in order to explain the various "mechanisms", "plots" and "cause and effect" deliberately set up by the author in the work, the author also used a lot of lines. In fact, more and more readers only read the beginning and the end, just to guess whether they guessed it right.

·Finally, let’s talk about Hunter x Hunter. It seems that Togashi’s paintings and thoughts are always in a “hysterical” state. Sometimes a large amount of text almost fills the pages, such as in Chapter 388, where 5 out of a total of 7 frames are occupied by text. Sometimes the entire book has almost no lines, such as in the later period of Yu Yu Hakusho, which leaves it all to the readers to imagine. It seems that the overall painting reveals the profound artistic conception of “lazy painting”. Those who like it will like it, and those who don’t like it will sneer at it.
