In an interview with Collider recently, "John Wick" series producer Erica Lee said that a spin-off movie in the series universe is currently in production. Erica Lee said: “We are developing another movie that I think we will announce in the next month or two.” "After that, hopefully, there will be Ballerinas 2, John Wick 5, and a lot of other stuff. But we have a lot of things going on and a lot of discussions going on with a lot of writers and brand management, and the John Wick universe is my priority." Now in theaters overseas, John Wick: Chapter 4 had the best opening weekend for the franchise, grossing $73.5 million in the U.S. and $64 million worldwide, for a total of $137.5 million. Although director Chad Stahelski recently said that he and Keanu wanted to "take a break" from the franchise after Chapter 4, Lionsgate released a statement saying they are "not ready to say goodbye to the franchise and Keanu yet," and that they have "a lot of ways to do a lot of different things." There are two John Wick spinoffs in the works: Ballerinas, starring Ana de Armas, is set to premiere in spring or summer 2024, and The Continental, a prequel miniseries about a young Winston and Charon, played by the late actor Lance Reddick, is set to premiere in September. Keanu, Reddick, Anjelica Huston and Ian McShane, who plays Winston, are all expected to make cameo appearances in Ballerinas. |
