Domestic animation "Chinese Tales" received positive reviews: meaningful and aesthetic

"Chinese Tales" is an animated short film collection produced by Shanghai Animation Film Studio. It is directed by Chen Liaoyu and supervised by Su Da and Zhu Bening. The short film collection consists of eight independent stories rooted in traditional Chinese culture: "Little Monster's Summer", "Geese, Geese, Geese", "Lin Lin", "The Country Bus Takes Away Wang Haier and the Fairies", "Xiao Man", "Jade Rabbit", "Shop", "Birds and Fishes", which unfolds a "monster" story collection with Chinese imagination and aesthetic charm in front of the audience.

Ten directors were invited to create the film. These eight stories based on traditional Chinese culture are all-encompassing, from nostalgia for the countryside to feelings of the end of the world, from the theme of life to thinking about human nature, carrying Chinese national culture and philosophy. The film covers a variety of art styles and production techniques: traditional two-dimensional, paper-cut, and stop-motion animation, as well as modern technologies such as CG and 3D rendering, and innovative attempts to combine sketches with the charm of Chinese ink painting. It is a multi-perspective interpretation of Chinese aesthetics by the creators.
