Yoko Taro wanted the protagonist of the anime NieR to have sex but was rejected

Recently, Yoko Taro was interviewed by foreign media and talked about some behind-the-scenes stories of "NieR: Automata". He said: "When I added a scene of 2B and 9S having sex in the script, producer Matsumoto said '9S will not have sex', so that scene was deleted. He was worried that fans would not like these plots. I believe that games and anime belong to fans, and the opinions of people like producers who are closer to fans made me realize that I had to delete that scene."

Senior game designer Takahisa Taura said: "Yokoo Taro was in his 40s when he made this game, and now he is in his 50s. The 40-year-old Yoko would never let 9S do things like having sex, but now he wants to join in such things, which shows that he has found similar feelings in himself."

Yoko Taro said with a smile: "I think I didn't understand what sex is until I was in my 50s." Takahisa Taura joked: "Yokoo Taro has finally grown up... He has gone through a long teenage period."

"I've never written about sex before, and when I did I was always rejected," said Yoko Taro. "It's not easy to find the right time to write something like this."

Later in an interview, Yoko Taro reiterated that he wanted to include a sex scene between 2B and 9S. In short, if Yoko Taro could create as he pleased, the animation of NieR: Automata might be very different.
