Sina Film reported today (November 1) that the Hollywood live-action version of the Japanese animation "Your Name" has found a new director: Carlos Lopez Estrada ("Raya and the Last Dragon" and "Blindspot"). The film has had three directors. In 2019, Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man, 500 Days of Summer) was invited to direct. In 2020, it was announced that Webb had withdrawn and was replaced by Lee Isaac Cheng (Minari, Freedom Day) to direct and rewrite the script. In 2021, it was revealed that Cheng had withdrawn from the film due to schedule conflicts. There are also multiple scripts for the live-action version of Your Name. The previously revealed plot is: "An Indian woman and a Chicago man magically swap bodies, disaster strikes, and the two must meet and save their world." After Zheng joined, the published description of the protagonist changed to "a boy and girl", still telling the story of them swapping bodies, wanting to meet and save the world. Estrada is currently also writing a new version of the drama, and there may be changes. The original animation was directed by Makoto Shinkai, and this Hollywood live-action version was created by Toho, Paramount, and J.J. Abrams' (Lost, Star Wars 7, the new Star Trek 1 and 2) Bad Robot Company. The original animation producer Genki Kawamura also served as the producer of the American version. |
