X-Force 2 director reportedly working on multiple mysterious DC movies

According to The Hollywood Reporter, James Gunn is pitching ideas for one or even two new DC movies.

Gunn and producer Peter Safran, who previously worked on Aquaman, Shazam!, and the upcoming DC sequels to both films, are reportedly in talks with Warner Bros. to produce at least one "mystery" film with Gunn as director. As for which superheroes the film will center on, that remains unknown.

According to The Hollywood Reporter's sources, Gunn will first focus on Peacemaker Season 2 before tackling any new projects for the studio. Following the 2021 soft reboot of X-Force, the first season of the X-Force spinoff starring John Cena premiered in January 2022. Season 2 is set to begin filming in 2023.

Gunn's next project is the Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas special, which will air on Disney Plus this winter, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is scheduled to be released on May 5, 2023.
