A spin-off animated film of "John Wick" is in the works, a prequel to the film series

The popularity of the action movie "John Wick" also spawned a spin-off series "The Continental" and a spin-off movie "John Wick: Chapter 11". Another spin-off work is now being planned, but it is not a live-action movie.

Chad Stahelski, the director of the "John Wick" series, recently revealed in an interview with the foreign media "Hollywood Reporter" that a spin-off animated film of "John Wick" is in preparation.

According to Chad Stahelski, the animated spin-off will be a prequel to the John Wick series, and the reason for not filming a live-action film is that the director felt it was "fun to do it in a different medium."

Chad Stahelski said: "Some of the prequels and sequels you've seen in other series, we don't want to do that. We just want to have some fun. We want to have some fun in the world of 'John Wick', but we've reached the peak in one aspect (referring to "John Wick 4"), so let's go back and use another medium."

While Stahelski didn't reveal too much about the heart of the animated film, he did specify that part of the film will explore the "impossible mission" faced by Wick, a task that ultimately led him to retire and live a more peaceful life with his wife.

"You can explore things we can't do in the original series," he continued, explaining that it would feel "a little bit inauthentic" to do a fifth, sixth, seventh movie in the original series, so he believes: "We can go a little bit crazier and a little bit more crazy in the animation, and in the TV shows (and movies), we can be more explicit in the storytelling and world-building. So those are exciting for us, but they don't feel repetitive, and that's where we're putting our energy now."
